CASTAGNETO CARDUCCI
CASTAGNETO CARDUCCI
The name Castagneto is due to the presence of many chestnut woods (in Italian castagneti). Carducci was added in honour of a famous Italian writer–Giosuè Carducci–who lived there during his childhood. The history of this town is linked to the two noble families that competed to obtain the control over the area, the Gherardesca and the Serristori. Today, we can luckily admire their former residences and symbols of their power, Villa Serristori and Villa Margherita
(Gherardesca)
