From Livorno we drive along the FI-PI-LI Superstrada for 30 km , than we must proceed along a National road driving throught different small town as Corazzano, La Serra, Castelfiorentino, Certaldo. Up to the time we can take advantage of the itinerary and stop in Certaldo , which is agreat Medieval Hamlet born place of Boccaccio (one of the most important 400th writer) You can reach the ancient part on top of the hill by a Funicolare Once in Poggibonsi ( a small industrialized town just between the 2 main city of Tuscany (Florence and Siena) is a strategic place where many way of comunication drive throught as Via Cassia, Via Francigena,From there we can follow the Firenze-Siena Superstrada. This Superstrada drive next to Colle Val D'Elsa, Monteriggioni and throught the Chianti area. Up to the time at your disposition we can decide to drive throught Colle Val D Elsa and Stop in Monteriggioni, instead of use the superstrada.
Along the way your Driver-Guide or your Tour Assistant will give you general infos about the places you'll drive throught
By Car or minivan (1-8 pax): Your driver will take you till the city centre of Siena usually in the Duomo Square. If you have hired an Authorised Guide in Siena you ll meet her/him at the San Domenico Square from where you'll start your guided tour of the city . Guide and driver will be in contact. After the tour and some free time for shpping, you'll meet again your driver usually at the Campo Square. In case you decide to do the tour on your own, your driver will provide you maps and will point you all the higlight of the city and you'll be informed about the driver's phone number. Meeting time and place will be arranged with the driver in advance. Usually the driver tend to drop you off at the highest point of Siena (the Dumo Square) and pick you up at the lowes spot: In front of Palazzo Pubblico (the city hall) in the Campo Square . So you have the opportuniy to walk down and not climb up.
At the arranged time you'll meet your driver to proceed toward San Gimignano.
Once arrived in San Gimignano( the town of beautifull tower), your drive will drop you off at the entrance of the town at San Giovanni Gate. Your driver will provide you maps and will point you all the higlight of the city. 1h and half is usually enought to visit this jewel. At the arranged time you'll meet your driver to go back to Livorno
Wine tasting can be organized on the way from Siena to san Gimignano usually in San Gimignano area , famous for the Vernaccia wine, made with Vernaccia grape. Many winerys can offer wine tastings and lunch . PTT Staff will be happy to tail for you the most suitable experience , we will provide the booking at the winery.
By Minibus or Bus ( more than 8 passengers): For Sure you'll have the Tour Assistant with you and she already explaned about the city of Siena and San Gimignano wile you were driving on board of the bus. The bus-driver will pass by the Check Point area and than will drive you to the specific spot for the drop off and pick up of the groups at the Fortress. With the tour assistant you can have the orientation tour of the city. Please remind: if you like to have a deep guided tour of the city you must hire the Authorised guide of Siena. If you do not hire tour assistant and/or guides, the bus driver will provide you maps and his phone number. At the arranged time you'll meet your driver to proceed toward San Gimignano. Up to the time at your disposition you can stop in Monteriggioni. To reach the entrance of this small town you should wealk up a bit becouse busses can stop down to the feet of the hill where monteriggioni is . Just 10 minutes walking. Once arrived in San Gimignanothe bus driver will stop at the drop off and pick up place the same where is the check point office. With the tour assistant you can have the orientation tour of the city. Please remind: if you like to have a deep guided tour of the city you must hire the Authorised guide of San Gimignano. If you do not hire tour assistant and/or guides, the bus driver will provide you maps and his phone number. At the same spot you'll find your bus driver at the end of the tour. Unfortunatelly we are at the end of the tour. You'll leave San Gimignano on time to catch your cruise in Livorno Harbour.
