RADDA IN CHIANTI
RADDA IN CHIANTI The medieval village of Radda dates back to 1100, when it belonged to the Counts Guidi. The powerful family lived there until the conflicts in Florence (between the Emperor and the city) eventually came to an end. After Gaiole in Chianti , Radda became the seat of the governor (the podesta) and chief seat of the Chianti League. After being attacked several times by the Sienese, the town was razed to the ground by the Aragonese in 1470. The structure we can see today actually goes back to the 16th century.
