The Villa was buillt built in the XVI Century This villa was planned by Giuliano da San Gallo and was committed by Lorenzo il Magnifico. It is located in the middle of a hilltop. Its design is a mix of renaissance and classical style architecture. The building is also one with symmetricaland armonic proportions. The Medici family is not the only family who resided in the villa. They were residence after a short period when Lorenzo was running Italy. During the Napoleonera, this villa was also occupied by Napoleon’s sister, Elisa Baciocchi and also Vittorio Emanueledi Savoia, who used it as a country resort in 1870. All of these people left some legacy of theirlives which makes this visit more appealing. The museum is filled with hundreds of beautifulpaintings for you to view. The still life “Museo della Natura Morta”, a Medici collection exhibitsabout 200 paintings dating back from the late 16 th century to the middle of the 18 th century. This villa is surrounded by a beautiful garden, a lemon tree nursery (Limonaia) and a 4th century stable. In just a 15 minute ride you will reach the farm where you will have a tour of the cellar followed by a wine and olive oil tasting. One of our favorite places is a biodynamic and organic farm. It includes genuine wine and delicious tasting olive oil. Once you arrive atthe estate, the farmer will take you for a walk in the field so you will have a betterunderstanding of the farming process. He will show you the vines and how the grow the grapesusing the biodynamic system. The farmer will show the ancient cellars and the olive miller. Atthe end you will be able to taste all of this deliciousness in an old style kitchen in a relaxedambiance of a crackling fireplace. As you sit around a big table you will be able to taste toastedslices of bread perfect with olive oil, wine and bruschetta along with other choices to enjoy. This tour will last 5 hours. The tour can end here if you wish or you can have an option to stopat a local restaurant in Carmignano, a little village a few minutes away from the farm.
