Our tour guide will offer a deep explanation of this city with the options to visit churches and museums .If you do not want a guide ..Your English speaking driver or tour assistant are not authorized guides but rather a practical and valuable source to help you navigate point of interest. They will give you some general information about each place. While onboard the vehicle, the driver will orient you for your walk around each town. Your driver will meet you at the location where you will be staying inTuscany (Hotels, Villas, Agriturisms, Farms). At the end of your day you will be dropped off at the location you are staying however, if you wish to be dropped off elsewhere just let your driver know. Upon your departure your driver will decide which one of the cities will work thebest for the first stop of your tour. While driving through Volterra you will pass through two beautiful valleys, Val d Era and Val di Cecina, beautiful clay colored landscape, the BALZE. In Volterra you can visit Palazzo dei Priori, which is the the oldest city hall in Tuscany. TheMedici Fortress and the Cathedral are also places of interest. Very interesting is the Teatro Romano. One of the main activities to experience is to visit Alabaster laboratory.From Volterra to San Gimignano the drive is just 30 minutes long. The driver or the tour assistant will explain, on board the bus, all about the land you are driving through. You will be passing by the famous artistic installation of the local contemporary artist Mauro Staccioli the Most famous one called Primi Passi” ( First Steps) because it is a sort of telescope and frame pointing and including an old abandoned house in the valley where hisGrandparents used to live and where he lived his early years.Arriving in San Gimignano by car or van your driver can take you to Porta San Giovanni or Porta San Matteo; the 2 main Gates of San Gimignano . If arriving by bus you will disembark at the bus area where you will walk to the main entrance of the town. San Gimignano sits on a hilltop with an encircling wall for an unforgettable view. This Tuscan town is surrounded by fantastic stone walls that were once used to protect the people of the town. It is famousfor its medieval architecture, unique in the preservation of about a dozentowers which are used as homes today. Two hours is the average time tourists wish to visit this charming town, however, some wish to extend their time walking, eating and shopping. Please let your driver know what you prefer to do.
