While driving through Volterra you will pass through two beautiful valleys, Val d Era and Val di Cecina, beautiful clay colored landscape, the BALZE. In Volterra you can visit Palazzo dei Priori, which is the the oldest city hall in Tuscany. TheMedici Fortress and the Cathedral are also places of interest. Very interesting is the Teatro Romano. One of the main activities to experience is to visit Alabaster laboratory.From Volterra to San Gimignano the drive is just 30 minutes long. You will be passing by the famous artistic installation of the local contemporary artist Mauro Staccioli the Most famous one called Primi Passi” ( First Steps) because it is a sort of telescope and frame pointing and including an old abandoned house in the valley where hisGrandparents used to live and where he lived his early years.Arriving in San Gimignano by car or van your driver can take you to Porta San Giovanni or Porta San Matteo; the 2 main Gates of San Gimignano .
