While driving through Volterra you will pass through two beautiful valleys, Val d Era and Val di Cecina, beautiful clay colored landscape, the BALZE. In Volterra you can visit Palazzo dei Priori, which is the the oldest city hall in Tuscany. TheMedici Fortress and the Cathedral are also places of interest. Very interesting is the Teatro Romano. One of the main activities to experience is to visit Alabaster laboratory.From Volterra to San Gimignano the drive is just 30 minutes long.
